✬ Glymmer is an invite-only game for the time being! For more information on the invite system, please visit the invite page.
✬ Apps are always open! However, I as the mod reserve the right to close them again if we get close to the game cap, or for any other reason. If I do that, I will make sure to clearly announce it in advance so everyone can plan for it.
✬ Apps will always be processed on the Saturday after they're submitted. If I for some reason cannot process apps that Saturday, then I will announce this on Plurk and process them on Sunday instead. Regardless, they should be processed every weekend!
✬ Currently, there is a game cap of 50 characters and a cast cap of 5 characters. Franchises (such as separate Final Fantasies and Personas and Marvel) will be considered separately for now. These caps are flexible and I will revisit them later on.
✬ We are currently accepting apps for fandom characters, OCs, and AUs of fandom characters (both canon and player made). We are not accepting apps for PG/CRAUs at this time.
✬ Doubles of characters are allowed so long as one version is appreciably different than the other version. We allow up to two versions of the same character to exist in the game at once. For example, Peter Parker from MCU and the Peter Parker from Spider-Man: Into the Spider-Verse would both be appable. So would canon Sora from Kingdom Hearts, and a player made AU where Sora never got the keyblade. The mods will be the one to determine whether the two version of a character are different enough to be appable. If you're not sure, you can ask!
✬ In a case where someone wishes to app a double into the game, they may do so only with permission from the player already in the game. If that player says no, please respect this! Doubles are so much fun (speaking from experience) but are only fun if all players are on board with it.
✬ Apps for historical characters will only be allowed if they are from a highly fictionalized take on history. For example, Abraham Lincoln from Abraham Lincoln: Vampire Hunter is appable, but Alexander Hamilton from the musical Hamilton is not.
✬ Players may play up to two characters in the game, but may only app one per app period.
✬ While we have no age limits on what characters can be applied to Glymmer, please make sure that they character you're applying for is suitable for the setting and can be self-sufficient! If the mods have questions about character suitability, we may take you aside to ask before accepting them. If we find that they aren't suitable for the setting, we will decline the application.
✬ You do not have to reserve a character to app them.
✬ Please fill out the following form and then post it to this page to apply to the game:

Character Info
Character Name: Wei Wuxian
Canon: Mo Dao Zu Shi (Grandmaster of Demonic Cultivation)
Age: 24ish, probably (he’s somewhere between 20 and 26, canon timelines are something else)
Canon Point: end of chapter 19, or roughly the end of season 1 of the animation
Character Info: I already wrote a history page that’s hopefully less confusing to read than the canon wiki
Why would your character make a good (or bad) phantom thief?
Wei Wuxian would be an excellent phantom thief. Not a perfect one, but he possesses enough of the standard characteristics that one would be hard-pressed to call him unsuited for the job. He’s an impulsive troublemaker who enjoys fondly annoying people, playing pranks, and creating mischief. Although he can be annoying to no end, he isn’t intentionally cruel, and he has a habit of shoving others out of harm’s way because he thinks he can take the hit instead. He’s not the best at staying alive on his own and it is largely through the contributions of the people who care about him that he manages it. Which is also a little phantom thief-esque.
He’s lacking in manners, courteousness, and is plenty willing to use physical force if needed, which may set him apart from some other phantom thieves. But he does have charm...of a sort. He’s the type who people tend to either love or hate. He does things mostly because he feels like it, with little regard for others; he has no desire for wealth but, for instance, if he wanted some fruit, he wouldn’t hesitate to steal some from someone else’s garden. His death did temper his impulsiveness and he’s more willing to step back and assess a situation before making a move, especially if his friends are involved. It never stops him from getting into trouble though. He means well, and his outgoing and cheerful disposition makes it easy for him to make friends when he isn’t making enemies. It doesn’t hurt that he’s a positive person; it’s hard to keep him down for long, and he ends up smiling and taking most situations in stride. Even being reborn doesn’t prompt him to do anything except stir up trouble and run around the countryside avoiding old enemies for a week. Although he’s plenty capable as a cultivator, knowledgeable and skilled thanks to his upbringing, he prioritizes having fun and not taking himself too seriously no matter the situation.
Wei Wuxian’s greatest weakness, which would really only add to being a standout phantom thief, is his hubris. He thinks he’s the smartest man in the room and isn’t afraid to have anyone else know it. He chafes at rules and laws that he sees as too restrictive and won’t accept ideas just because they’re deemed conventional wisdom by everyone else. His overconfidence is what prevents him from accepting the warnings of his friends about his bad life choices, and ultimately what causes his (first) death. His arrogance isn’t completely without merit though: his wealth of knowledge and quick thinking does often help to save the lives of others. On its own, being a thief requires some level of arrogance; you have to have a big enough head to think that you can steal something and not get caught. Being a phantom thief requires that confidence on top of the showboating!
He’s gonna do great, really.
Specialization: Thief! Honestly, this is mostly because he is of the mind that this would be the most useful when it comes to completing missions and thus getting his wish.
Starter thief outfit: The outfit and mask!
Powers: He has some typical cultivator abilities:
-He has the ability to see, sense, and communicate with the dead
-Related, he has the power to use resentful or demonic energy to control undead beings and spirits. He communicates with them either directly through speech, sounds like whistling, or via his flute.
-He’s pretty good at playing the flute as a result. Actually, he’s skilled in the “six arts” of ancient China: poetry, music, archery, calligraphy (and art), mathematics, and equestrianism.
-He can do some basic cultivation techniques such as: making lifelike (paper) puppets that follow his orders, transferring his soul to other objects, and creating written talismans.
In addition to his cultivator skills, he’s also still decent at using a sword and has a ridiculously high tolerance for alcohol and spicy foods. It should be considered a skill to be as bad at cooking as he is, too.
Samples: one and two!
