APPS

APPS Back to Navigation
Applications are currently CLOSED

✬ Glymmer is an invite-only game for the time being! For more information on the invite system, please visit the invite page.

✬ Apps are always open! However, I as the mod reserve the right to close them again if we get close to the game cap, or for any other reason. If I do that, I will make sure to clearly announce it in advance so everyone can plan for it.

✬ Apps will always be processed on the Saturday after they're submitted. If I for some reason cannot process apps that Saturday, then I will announce this on Plurk and process them on Sunday instead. Regardless, they should be processed every weekend!

✬ Currently, there is a game cap of 50 characters and a cast cap of 5 characters. Franchises (such as separate Final Fantasies and Personas and Marvel) will be considered separately for now. These caps are flexible and I will revisit them later on.

✬ We are currently accepting apps for fandom characters, OCs, and AUs of fandom characters (both canon and player made). We are not accepting apps for PG/CRAUs at this time.

✬ Doubles of characters are allowed so long as one version is appreciably different than the other version. We allow up to two versions of the same character to exist in the game at once. For example, Peter Parker from MCU and the Peter Parker from Spider-Man: Into the Spider-Verse would both be appable. So would canon Sora from Kingdom Hearts, and a player made AU where Sora never got the keyblade. The mods will be the one to determine whether the two version of a character are different enough to be appable. If you're not sure, you can ask!

✬ In a case where someone wishes to app a double into the game, they may do so only with permission from the player already in the game. If that player says no, please respect this! Doubles are so much fun (speaking from experience) but are only fun if all players are on board with it.

✬ Apps for historical characters will only be allowed if they are from a highly fictionalized take on history. For example, Abraham Lincoln from Abraham Lincoln: Vampire Hunter is appable, but Alexander Hamilton from the musical Hamilton is not.

✬ Players may play up to two characters in the game, but may only app one per app period.

✬ While we have no age limits on what characters can be applied to Glymmer, please make sure that they character you're applying for is suitable for the setting and can be self-sufficient! If the mods have questions about character suitability, we may take you aside to ask before accepting them. If we find that they aren't suitable for the setting, we will decline the application.

✬ You do not have to reserve a character to app them.

✬ Please fill out the following form and then post it to this page to apply to the game:

Character Info

Character Name: Sync the Tempest
Canon: Tales of the Abyss
Age: Physically and mentally 15, true age is 3.
Canon Point: After his actual death
Character Info: Wiki page. Timeline is mildly inaccurate for early history, but events are correct.

Why would your character make a good (or bad) phantom thief? Sync would make a rather outstanding thief if he puts his mind to it. A tactical genius, he tends to be the one who makes plans for all the God-Generals, and when a situation comes up, he's the one to work out how to handle it, thinking through all the variables and finding the best solution. He's incredibly smart for someone so young, and he's long earned the title of general.

The only thing that can get in the way for him is that his personality isn't great for thieving. Sync lived a life where he thought himself outside of the world, not a part of it, and nothing he had was truly his own. As such, he doesn't really understand much of what people find precious to them. Items with monetary value, that's easy enough, but things that aren't necessarily expensive but worth stealing aren't things he really understands. How can something as simple as a doll or old photograph be considered treasures? He's also rather uncaring about other people's opinions or wants, so in general doing things only happens when he actually wants to. Thankfully the whole wish thing will actually somewhat help him get moving in the setting.

He's also not easy to work with sometimes. Sync is, to put it bluntly, a bit of a shitchild. He's not above taunting and mocking his own allies if they're not being smart about things, and for people with short tempers...well. Yeah. Kind of a problem. His own temper is also kind of short, and there is a very short list of people that will not manage to get him to completely explode on them if his buttons are pushed in the wrong way. Said people on list are there purely because they'd kick his ass in a fight and he knows it.

Specialization: Thief

Starter thief outfit: His mask will be the same mask he wears in early canon because I'm mean like that. His outfit will be similar-ish to that outfit as well, just without some of the accessories such as the long orange ribbons and the odd yellow and red seal like objects. They're not super helpful for being sneaky after all, since they stand out in the dark!

Powers: Sync is the penultimate boss of Tales of the Abyss, and is best described as "stupidly strong and fast". He's the 'fragile speedster' of the God-Generals, as he can absolutely wreck someone in a very short amount of time, but his defences are lower than the other God-Generals. At full sprint, it can be hard to see him when he's running and sometimes he can leave after-images of himself, but he can't maintain that speed for long periods of time. He's also the only character in canon who doesn't need a weapon to fight, he fights purely with punches and kicks.

He has a good range of fonic artes, which are basically magic spells, in several elements. He's also something of a GODDAMN CHEATER because he's the only person in canon able to cast an arte that has no cast timer. Thankfully it's only one specific arte, BUT STILL. He's also got two Mystic Artes which are basically "You can use these only so often" because they're overpowered nukes, which he also kind of cheats with since he can use them whenever he damn well wants. But I play these as something that exhausts him to use too much. For more arte info, I have a write up on his artes here.

Not a power but of note: Sync is a replica. While he looks human and basically reacts as a human would when it comes to injury, illness, etc, he's actually made entirely of sound fonons mimicking the human form. Any part of him that isn't attached to him will dissolve into fonons after awhile (blood drops, lost hair) and his entire body will disappear if he dies.
